Super exciting first tastings of 2024 with the majority of our team including Luigi, Cesare and Vincent, though missing Fran, @fran_iconicwines, and our creative Clive, @limebluesolutions, who both contribute so substantially to the global understanding of our passion and our wines.

We now have Barbera from our Fontanavi vineyard – a unique area known as Bionzo. Bionzo is recognised for producing some of the finest Barbera d’Asti wines within its micro climate and we have that special opportunity to produce some of our wines from here. Along with the Barbera growing on the cley of Il Finale vineyard we now have both in stainless steel after malolactic fermentation. We are finding some intriguing potential variants based upon how we are treating the wine shortly after the second fermentation… but more of that later!

We are tasting two very distinct wine profiles – this is the exciting future of Barbera as our vineyards show very different geologies. These wines are in tanks, unbottled and unclarified. This is the first year of defining the terroir of our diverse vineyards even more and highlighting the identity of the different geologies. Listen to the interpretation of our winemakers.

In the near future we will have some exciting representatives of Barbera available for sale though in limited quantities as we continue to restrict our yields and impose critical selection on the grapes we are working.

There will also be the unique opportunity for true wine lovers to taste side by side Barbera that shows very different characteristics as they tell the story of their locations. This is the future of Barbera as it claims more and more respect in the wine world. Quality remains our motivation and is our core passion when bring our wines to market.

We are also experiencing the results of 12 months in oak (barrique) on Barbera picked in 2023 – a bright and warm harvest and great conditions. We will not release this too quickly but keep the wines in bottle for some months to develop further.

You are most welcome to place your orders in advance whilst limited stocks are available for delivery in the summer this year and in readiness to compliment those hearty dishes or wonderful casseroles of autumn and winter of 2025. What a delight this is going to be!
